The Spark
From the time he was a child attending Ringling Bros. and Disney On Ice shows at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, Michael Burke wasn’t watching the performers — he was watching the lights. While others remembered the clowns or skaters, he remembered how the beams of color moved across the arena. That early fascination with light became a lifelong passion.
Early Experimentation
For birthdays and Christmases, Michael asked for fog machines and DJ-style lights instead of toys. He learned by doing — even timing lights to music by flicking them on and off through a surge protector. By his teens, he had sold the basics, invested in moving fixtures, and taught himself to program intelligent lighting. It wasn’t just a hobby anymore; it was becoming his craft.
Professional Experience
In 2007, Michael entered the professional lighting world as a follow spot operator at the Alabama Theatre in North Myrtle Beach, SC. A year later, he joined Feld Entertainment’s Disney On Ice as an assistant electrician, touring the world for four years. He went on to work with the Nuclear Cowboyz and Women of Faith tours from 2012–2014 before joining Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Today, Michael serves as the Park Entertainment Lighting Lead, overseeing entertainment lighting across the entire park.
The Birth of Prismara Events
Even with a full-time career at Disney, Michael’s passion for design never stopped. Each year, he programmed elaborate Christmas tree light shows synchronized to Disney music at his home, realizing much of his professional gear sat idle for most of the year. Paired with his love of leading crews and executing complex productions, this realization sparked the idea to start a company. What began as MB Lighting Solutions grew into today’s Prismara Events — a brand built on creativity, professionalism, and the art of event illumination.
